A FEAST OF STORIES is a collection of 15 folktales from Asia devoted, appropriately enough, to the theme of food. The stories come from China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, South Korea and Thailand.
You will find comic stories here, as well as particiation tales - many of the stories are followed by tips from the teller, suggestions for actions or activities to do before or during your telling. Many of the stories are good for sharing values.
The contents page and some sample pages are attached below.
When Kiran Shah, who offered to be the book's Editor, approached members and invited them to contribute a story, she asked them to share a story they have told often and to write it in a way that reflects their telling. We did not want this to be a literaary collection, but a resource you could use, offering you stories that you could share with only the essential work of making the re-telling your own.
Balinese artist and storyteller Gede Tarmada, generously provided a line illustration to accompany each of the stories.
